Yolo County desperately needs to retain experienced judges in our courts. Judge Maguire has an excellent legal and litigation background, both as a private practitioner before taking the bench and as a trial judge on the court since his appointment in 2010. His calendar assignments have included civil court and jury trials, estates, trusts and family law. Having completed a full year on the bench, Judge Maguire is a proven, seasoned jurist.
Members of our firm have represented clients in his department many times, including jury trials of many weeks duration. We can think of no finer trial judge for civil cases than Dan Maguire. Even when his rulings have gone against our clients we have always been given a fair hearing and a judicious, well reasoned decision.
As you probably know, the Yolo County Superior Court has undergone many changes over the past few years and many of our more experienced judges have retired. With these changes in our court the retention of Judge Maguire becomes all that much more critical. Our attorneys have well over 50 years of combined courtroom experience. All have commented that Judge Maguire's judicial temperament is as fine as we have seen.
We have nothing against challenger Clinton Parish. But we do feel that it would be wiser and more beneficial to the people of Yolo County for Mr. Parish to pursue a gubernatorial appointment to the bench rather than seeking to unseat one of the best judges we have ever had here in Yolo County.
